- Training provided is four, 2-hour lessons. One lesson per week, providing student is meeting requirements and goals. BTW must also be completed by the six-month expiration date. All four lessons will NOT be held in the last 30 days before the student's expiration date. The same instructor provides all four lessons barring extenuating circumstances on the part of the student or instructor. All behind-the-wheel training is one-on-one. Students are required to have 10 or more hours of on road driving time with parents before BTW training begins. This enables our instructors to teach them at a higher level.
All BTW training begins and ends at PDS office.
- Eligibility: A student is eligible to be assigned to an Instructor with; a valid Temporary Permit, 10 hours of on road driving with a parent/legal guardian and after completing all twelve (12) classroom sessions. Students are assigned once a week on Saturdays and the instructor then has seven days to contact the Parents/Legal Guardians to schedule the BTW lessons. The Instructor will provide a direct contact number to reach them by for any BTW related questions and concerns.
- Exact timing for when BTW lessons will begin cannot be provided because BTW is very individualized between the BTW instructor and the student/family. BTW lessons are scheduled one per week as long as driving time and goals are met.
- Student must be accompanied by at least one parent/legal guardian, before class start date, to complete final registration requirements (Reading and signing Agreement Form, Medical History and BTW Driving Survey); final payment is also taken at this time.
- State rule; The 24- hours of classroom must be completed within four months of the first class taken. If the classroom is not completed within this deadline, the entire state-mandated program must be re-purchased and taken over.
- State rule; The entire 32- hour program must be completed within six months of the first class taken. If the program is not completed within this deadline, the entire state-mandated program must be re-purchased and taken over.
- State rule; Students cannot begin at one school and finish at another. The entire program must be completed at one state-licensed school.
- Professional Driving Systems does NOT offer the 8-hours behind-the-wheel to online driving school students. We have found online students are not receiving the details necessary to prepare them for the behind-the-wheel lessons. This goes against our mission of saving lives and making our students the safest drivers they can be.
- State rule; Upon completion of the program, a State of Ohio-Department of Public Safety certificate is issued to the student within 10 days of completing the program. This certificate MUST be presented to the OHIO BMV exam station to be able to take the driver’s exam. If the certificate is lost or destroyed, an affidavit must be completed by the student or parent and submitted to the driving school. Do not schedule your exam until you receive your certificate.
- IF A STUDENT TURNS 18 BEFORE COMPLETING THE COURSE, adult rules apply. We still supply them with a certificate.
